Love these!

Going green... I spotted these earth-friendly cards while on a recruiting trip a few weeks back. Check out more of Compendium's cards, hang tags, invitations, books, and journals. Fun stuff with inspiring messages and reminders of the good things in life.

ARTIST TRADING CARDS

Every other month I host an Artist Trading Card (ATC) trade at Hallmark.

ATCS are 2.5 x 3.5 inch miniature works of art which artists trade with one another. It's a fun exercise to do and get off the computer and make some art! There are so many talented people here at Hallmark. You never know that a writer can illustrate or a photographer can sew!

I've been having the trades for almost 2 years now. It started with some co-workers on my team and then word got around and folks from different departments come out to trade.

This month the theme for the trade was "go green." Everyone went GREEN and used recycled materials to make their ATCs. Here are some cards form the trade.

CUPCAKE PARTY!

I'm moving to another design team Monday so today was my last day on my current team. They got me cupcakes to send me off (I'll be super far away in another building). I just adored the strawberry cupcakes and how ironic they matched my shirt!

Thanks y'all!

NEW BLOG HEADER

I got cre•a•tive and made a new blog header.

This is the first one I did.

First I had cut out letters by hand from various pages of a magazine. It looked cool, but not legible for the blog. I may keep it for something else.

This morning I decided to go the doodle route. I think it reflects what our blog is about pretty well. Hope y'all like it!

MAGAZINES AND COFFEE CLOSED

I went to Magazines and Coffee (1722 Main Street) in the Crossroads and the space was empty... CLOSED! Say it ain't so! It was the perfect place to get signature espresso drinks, some food and a very wide variety of magazines.

It was a cool spot. I guess I should have visited more often. So sad.

PAPER PLAY

In early April I went out to Kearney with my team to do some collages. I'm on the Print on Demand team and we make the online photo greetings. We wanted to take a break and get off of the computer and play with some paper!

HI Y’ALL!

I’m Jeanee, guest blogger. I’ll be blogging about what’s going on around Kansas City, cool stuff I may run across and whatever else seems to be cre•a•tive.

No, I’m not from the South. But I say y’all quite a bit. I received my BA in journalism from Michigan State in 1997. I worked for a while as a web designer. Then I went back to school in 2003 to Portfolio Center in Atlanta, GA. Hallmark found me after I graduated and I started in greetings design fall of 2005.

I’ve had the awesome opportunity to be in a lot of departments and special projects at Hallmark. Now I’ve just added CRE•A•TIV•I•TY to my list! I have three personal blogs and now two Hallmark blogs. What can I say… I love to share.
SHARING IS CARING!

So... My friend, Tuesday (yes, that's her real name and no, she was born on Wednesday) is one of the most talented people I know. She is also one of the funniest. Check out her blog and don't believe a word she says about not liking cheese. She forgot to tell you that she only likes cheese cubes. ya know, the cheapest cheese made. Anyway, I can go on for days about her work. I'm honored to have her art hanging in my house.

HELLO, CUPCAKE!

I love this website and I pray that we'll get a Sprinkles Cupcakes in Kansas City. Some people pray for way more important things- good health, success, love. I pray for cupcakes. Whatever gets you through the day. Go to the website and vote for the Kansas City location. www.sprinklescupcakes.com.
I don't know when it became so trendy to eat a small cake over a big one. This place has beautiful cupcakes, amazing packaging and a cool website. I especially love the chart that tells you what flavors are served on particular days. I have a couple passions in life. Besides my family (dogs included), a cure for breast cancer is a very close second. I'm always in search for companies, big and small, who give back. The first week of October (breast cancer awareness month), Sprinkles donates all the proceeds from it's strawberry cupcakes to the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Woman's Cancer Research Fund.

Check out these blogs.

Chris Honeysett Photography

Amazing black and white photography. Though somewhat melancholy, Chris Honeysett creates some very thought-provoking and inspiring imagery. If you are in Kansas City in the fall, you might catch Chris at the annual Plaza Art Fair.
