I wanted to share some photos from this Monday. Hallmark owns a farm in north east Missouri, just 30 or so minutes from Kansas City in a town called Kearney. It's mainly used as a retreat by different departments, to hold workshops, learn new trades, get inspired, etc. It was really great, apparently my department goes up there at least once a year. We had breakfast, and then we carved and painted pumpkins, followed by a wonderful potluck lunch, hiking through the numerous trails that the farm had, and just general bonding. That funny pumpkin in the front was mine. Great time!
Oh I had to take a photo of the apples! the farm had apple trees and a pear tree, I thought it was so cool, I've only seen an apple tree three times in my life (we don't have those in florida), haha
There was a few kayaks close by that we could have used in this pond, but it was too cold to try.

PAPER PLAY
In early April I went out to Kearney with my team to do some collages. I'm on the Print on Demand team and we make the online photo greetings. We wanted to take a break and get off of the computer and play with some paper!

The Joys of Working Here
An email popped up in my inbox late last week that reminded me of why I love my job. Hallmark believes in giving their creative community time to refresh, renew, learn, grow and research. Sure we work hard and are given tight deadlines, but we also get time to play.
The email below is just another shining example of how lucky I am and what a shock it would be for me to be working out in the "real" world of an advertising agency, late nights at a small design firm or even some stuffy corporate in-house design machine.
Yes, life is pretty great here enriching lives.
The email below is discussing a day away at a farm owned by Hallmark called Kearney. The staff I am on is planning a day there just to relax, dabble in some fun workshops to get the creative juices flowing, and just enjoy the outdoors at the Kearney farm.
I've erased some names just so I'm not giving away too much about who's in charge and who you should bombard with emails to get a job as cool as mine. :) You might have to click on it to be able to read it.
