I'm sorry, but that debate was just dumb. I really don't see any controversy with Hallmark offering the cancer cards. As part of the PR team that helped launch the cards (albeit as design support), I felt that all of Hallmark's supporting materials/campaign really helped equip the friend or family member provide meaningful support to cancer patients. As a friend/family member of cancer patients, I wish these cards had been offered a long time ago.

Did Mr. Abdubato even look at Hallmark's supporting campaign program? Did he visit any of the many events and/or pick up a leaflet providing ideas on how to help cancer patients cope with the disease? Or did he just walk into a store and get mad? Because if he had paid attention, he would have noticed that the Journeys line is a part of a larger campaign to bring awareness to and open dialog about how cancer affects more than just the cancer patient.

It's kind of like saying you can't send flowers unless you grow them yourself. Or you can't send a blank card unless you illustrated or took the picture on the cover yourself. Or maybe you shouldn't call a friend in need unless you yourself built the telephone......

in my opinion, is there any less sediment in buying a pre-written card as there is in having to have someone tell you what to do? if you had to go out and buy a book, to tell you that sending a card is wrong, you are worse off than you were to spend $3 on a card.

come one non-hallmarks. comment. i want to hear and outside opinion. are we wrong?

I'm outside Hallmark, but you were my client at the time, so I don't know if I "count" as non-Hallmark... ;)

agreed. When I saw this on the show I literally stopped getting ready and my mouth was wide open! Couldn't believe it! Hallmark is simply making it easier to help people cope with different situations. Cancer happens, there is no denying it....so be honest and give some love. : ) there is no harm in that!

And make the card yourself if you're so offended. There are a lot worse things going on in the world to really be worried about.
